Usyk Dismisses Fury’s 2026 Trilogy Talk as “Crazy” Ahead of Dubois Rematch

Usyk Dismisses Fury’s 2026 Trilogy Talk as “Crazy” Ahead of Dubois Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk appeared visibly surprised when questioned about Tyson Fury’s recent comments suggesting a trilogy fight between them could happen in 2026.

Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) has already defeated Fury twice in 2024, with the second bout ending in a decisive 12-round decision. Fury’s push for a third showdown has left many fans puzzled, with some questioning why he’d seek a rematch after back-to-back defeats.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian called Fury “crazy” for floating the idea and said he has no intention of discussing another bout until after his upcoming rematch with IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, set for Saturday, July 19, at Wembley Stadium.

The high-stakes fight will determine the undisputed heavyweight champion, and Usyk is not underestimating his opponent.

“I don’t judge Tyson Fury, but I don’t know what’s going on,”

Usyk told The Stomping Ground in response to Fury’s trilogy remarks. It remains unclear how serious Fury is about the idea, with speculation suggesting it may be a way to maintain face with fans and preserve the narrative of unfinished business.

Fury, now retired, could be aiming to keep the door open for a return, and mentioning a third fight with Usyk might be part of that strategy. It would likely damage his image if he didn’t express any desire for redemption after two losses.

“I don’t know. Right now, I’m not thinking about it,”

Usyk said regarding the possibility of a 2026 trilogy bout. He’s fully focused on the challenge ahead: facing the 27-year-old Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), a powerful and dangerous puncher. Looking past this fight would be a risky move.

Reacting to Fury’s timeline for a third encounter, Usyk added with a laugh,

“We have a fight in 2026? You crazy guy! After the fight [with Dubois], we can talk about it.”

Though Usyk isn’t committing to a trilogy just yet, he isn’t ruling it out either. And considering the massive paydays reportedly $45 million for their first fight in May 2024 and $82.5 million for the rematch in December, according to The Sun, another bout could be financially tempting.

For now, all eyes are on Wembley, where Usyk will aim to defend his titles and keep his undefeated record intact before entertaining any future battles with Fury.
