Jon Jones claims he’s re-entered drug-testing pool ahead of proposed UFC White House event

Jon Jones claims he’s re-entered drug-testing pool ahead of proposed UFC White House event

Jon Jones is thinking about fighting again with a big opportunity looming.

Following President Donald Trump’s announcement of plans to host a UFC event at The White House to commemorate Independence Day 2026, several fighters excitedly reacted to the news, including Conor McGregor, who expressed interest in fighting on the proposed card.

Now Jones, 37, is teasing a comeback after announcing his retirement in June. The former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion commented on social media, writing, “Fighting at The White House?” along with an eyes emoji.

Adding to the intrigue, Jones subsequently wrote that he “Just re-entered the testing pool, that lasted for about two weeks. Figured we’d keep everyone’s options open.”

Jones announced his retirement on June 21 following a period of limited activity that saw him add the UFC heavyweight title to his collection, but compete just twice since 2020. During that stretch, Jones was frequently criticized for not fighting Tom Aspinall, the interim champion who made it clear he wanted to face Jones in a unification bout. Aspinall was immediately promoted to undisputed champion status in Jones’ absence.

Trump would undoubtedly love to have Jones as part of the event. The president was in attendance for Jones’ most recent fight at UFC 309 in New York, where Jones successfully defended his title against Stipe Miocic. Jones celebrated by imitating one of Trump’s famous dances and then greeted the president cageside.
